A place, lives, and a family story. Le Dattier is a village near Cavalaire-sur-Mer. A place that marked the life of a man, which he tells in this autobiography.
We were responsible for the graphic creation of this moving book, and wanted to evoke the relationship of this man to the sea and his village by working certain more illustrated parts of this book with line drawing. Project carried out for the AD Creations agency.
Our desire in the design of this book was to extend the graphic ideas through printing techniques.
For this we chose to work the lines created in silkscreen and selected varnish. This was the best way of symbolising the sea and the land.
The bronze is reminiscent of the orange rocks of Le Dattier and the rays of the Mediterranean sun that caresses them. The varnish set on the cover page marks the limit and cadence of the sea. The varnish, on the cover page, delineates and rhythms the sea. This gives the cover a little extra interest. The transformation of reflections is reminiscent of the sea itself.
