Wines, champagnes and spirits. Brands of international renown. Different taste sensations. But a single Group. One sole philosophy. A state of mind. And a myriad of emotions. Senses aroused. Explosions of aroma and flavour. The feeling that each sip adds to the pleasure. That each glass is part of a story…
What if, just for once, our story was not about Houses but about emotions? What if MH’s products were first and foremost a way of conveying sensations? What if this book were designed to evoke feelings, a pleasurable stroll through a world of impressions, a unique sensory experience?
Gout is a strong graphic element of the book. It is worked on the scabbard without even a title. At first glance, one questions. We will then respond. The grain in intense places disperses elsewhere, like the spraying of a fine powder.
Throughout the book, wines and spirits are represented by generic illustrations. Symbolized by simple vector shapes, their essences are translated by graphic games.
Between density and lightness, this is meticulous work that we have done to evoke the scent. Perhaps the most difficult sense to transcribe graphically comes to life thanks to a duo of gold and bronze metallic serigraphs.
“I love all smells, even those that are not pleasant, because it is the olfactory experience which gets me going.”
A visual explosion. Here is what these points evoke. Like a firework, the glitter, scatter in this composition in order to offer us an explosion of light and shine.
A drop that turns into a wave. We work on the sound. Two hot stamps coupled with a selective varnish jostle and cause vibrations.
A set of textures, supports, materials. Gout is represented here in these different facets.
It’s a call to touch. Touch the paper, feel the material, delimit the solid forms, the empty forms. The textures and the variety of patterns create a remarkable tactile experience.
Echoing Hokusai’s work, a vague sparkle surprises the palate.
